Cartographic & Geographic Data Disclaimer
World Remix (https://mapmelt.com) combines real-world cartographic datasets with imaginative game mechanics. Please review the following disclosures regarding how boundaries, flags, and statistics are presented.
1. Neutrality on Disputed Territories & Borders
The geographic polygons rendered on the World Remix map are derived from the open-source datasets/geo-countries repository, which converts public-domain cultural vectors from Natural Earth, supplemented by EPSG/PROJ onshore coordinates for small island nations and microstates.
The inclusion, naming, ISO coding, or boundary depiction of any country, territory, or region in World Remix is strictly for interactive gaming and educational reference and does not imply the expression of any political opinion whatsoever on the part of World Remix concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city, or area, or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
2. Genuine Capital Coordinates, Microstates & Disputed Territories
Capital city markers on the MapMelt atlas are positioned at genuine WGS84 capital coordinates (sourced from Natural Earth Populated Places and GeoNames) rather than country polygon centroids. All 31 sovereign microstates and island nations feature custom coastal/archipelagic vector outlines alongside selectable map beacons. Disputed or partially recognized territories (including Kosovo, Western Sahara, Taiwan, Palestine, Northern Cyprus, Somaliland, Falkland Islands, and internationally recognized 1991 borders for Ukraine) carry explicit provenance notes in the dataset and Reference Table.
3. Real vs. Reshaped MapMelt Visualizations
- Real-World Map View: When you select countries on the primary world map, their real-world geographic locations are strictly preserved. Non-adjacent countries are connected only by a symbolic geodesic arc; World Remix never claims that geographically separated nations share a contiguous land border.
- Fictional Composite Silhouette: The separate Composite Silhouette panel in the Country Fusion Charter is explicitly labeled as an artistic, fictional juxtaposition of country shapes for visual entertainment.
3. Official National Flags vs. Generated Fictional Flags
Official national flags are displayed unmodified in their original designs and proportions (via public-domain Wikimedia Commons renders in hampusborgos/country-flags and lipis/flag-icons) in the Constituent Nations section and map tooltips. The fused flag displayed at the top of a Country Fusion Charter is a deterministic fictional design generated algorithmically and is clearly labeled as fictional.
4. Social Preview Images on Static Shared Hosting
Because World Remix is engineered to run as a 100% static website on conventional shared hosting without a server-side rendering backend or paid cloud function, shared URLs containing query parameters (such as ?fusion=JP,BR) use a rich static Open Graph preview banner (assets/img/og-preview.png) when previewed on social platforms, and automatically restore the exact custom creation inside the visitor's browser upon opening the link.
